IRG Action Statement on Middle Class Tax Cut Proposal

Petition drive announced to showcase bipartisan support for tax reform

DELAFIELD, WI –Today, Wisconsin legislative leaders introduced a historic income tax reform plan, cutting taxes for all income earners by $3.5 billion in the next state budget. IRG Action Fund CEO CJ Szafir released the following statement upon the introduction of the plan:

“Bold income tax reform is the single biggest reform lawmakers can enact this year to help Wisconsin families and workers succeed. This plan increases take home pay for all, will help drive investment in the economy, and helps small employers.

Thank you to Speaker Vos, Majority Leader LeMahieu, co-chairs Born and Marklein, and Representative Katsma for their work on this historic proposal. We call on Governor Evers and all lawmakers to support this plan and send a bipartisan message that Wisconsin is a destination state for those looking for bigger paychecks.”

IRG Action Fund is also starting a petition drive in support of the tax proposal, focused in the Milwaukee region.

“This tax reform helps all Wisconsinites, and support for it should be bipartisan. Statewide polling has found that 75% of all Wisconsinites favored lowering the income tax, including 72% of Democrats who think it will help with Wisconsin’s labor shortage. This should be an easy area for the Legislature and Gov. Evers to come together on,” added Szafir.
