MADISON, WI – Today the Senate Committee on Universities and Revenue is holding a public hearing today Senate Bill 1, a transformational tax plan that would move Wisconsin to a 3.25% flat income tax.
Chris Reader, Executive Vice President of IRG Action, released the following statement prior to the hearing:
“A flat tax brings us one step closer towards eliminating our state’s personal income tax and making Wisconsin competitive among our Midwest peers. We encourage lawmakers to support Senate Bill 1.
“This legislation will lower the tax burden on all workers, helping low and middle income families take home bigger paychecks while also pushing more capital into the economy to accelerate economic growth. In the face of a recession and high inflation, both goals are needed right now.”
