IRG Action Statement on Historic Assembly Vote to Break Up MPS, Expand School Choice

Madison, Wis. — Today, the Wisconsin Assembly passed legislation to break up MPS and expand school choice for all students in Wisconsin, along with other education reforms. These historic changes enable every family in Wisconsin to choose which school they want to attend and would finally break up the behemoth MPS district.

“This is a historic vote for Wisconsin’s children, enabling school choice for every family and allowing more access to exceptional courses and materials, while finally breaking up the failing Milwaukee Public School District,” said CJ Szafir, CEO of IRG Action Fund. “Thanks to Republicans in the Assembly for their hard work putting parents and families first. By passing this groundbreaking legislation, all families in Wisconsin will have access to a brighter future for their children.”

Chris Reader, EVP at IRG Action Fund testified at the Assembly Education Committee hearings on the bills that were passed today.
